Petition to Enact the Minnesota Constitutional Carry Bill

To my State Legislators and the Governor of Minnesota

Whereas: The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution explicitly states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; and

Whereas: This inalienable, individual right certainly includes the right of all to purchase and carry a gun for self-defense; and

Whereas: Requiring law-abiding citizens to go through the permit system to get government permission before they can exercise their constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and

Whereas: Real-life experience and extensive research both clearly demonstrate that restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense only encourages violent crime; and

Whereas: Constitutional Carry would allow every law-abiding Minnesota citizen the freedom to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, to protect freedom and the right of individuals to defend themselves and their families, we urge you to both cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on the Minnesota Constitutional Carry bill.

Be it further resolved, we urge you to ensure that the Minnesota Constitutional Carry bill repeals the "permit to purchase" requirement that mandates law-abiding individuals seek government permission before buying a weapon.

Will you sign?
